ShiftPlate is made by people who run one. It exists because the tools we had didn't fit the way a service actually goes — and it runs in our own restaurant every day, which is the only test that really counts.
Most restaurant software is written for a business that behaves predictably: fixed prices, planned hours, a month that closes neatly. Service doesn't behave like that. A supplier moves a price mid-week, someone calls in sick at five, and the margin on your best-selling dish drifts a few pence at a time until a quarter has gone. We built ShiftPlate to keep up with that, rather than to record it afterwards.
Two people build ShiftPlate. One has run a restaurant for years; the other has spent a career building systems that have to be right.

Kris came up through London hospitality and opened his own restaurant in 2017. He has run service for years, so ShiftPlate gets shaped by someone who knows what a full Friday actually feels like rather than by a guess at it.

Dom has spent two decades building software for the finance sector: development, hardware, systems integration, infrastructure automation and security. Systems where a number that is nearly right is simply wrong — the same standard a venue's own figures deserve.
